Equipment Maintenance Any person or entity who possesses an AED shall ensure that the AED is maintained and tested according to the manufacturer's guidelines.EU staff inspects the AED after each use. Company AED site manager performs checks monthly (or more frequently depending on manufacturer regulations. EU AED Program manager database tracks dates routine maintenance is performed and generates automatic reminder emails of upcoming maintenance. EU staff monitors compliance and notifies company AED site manager of non compliance.
Medical Direction A licensed physician or advanced practice registered nurse who is authorized to prescribe is involved in the possessor's program to ensure compliance with the requirement for training, emergency medical service (EMS) notification, and maintenance.EU's AED Worksafe Program provides Medical Direction. An AED Response Documentation Form is completed with each use of the defibrillator and sent to EU along with the ECG/voice recording. EU's Licensed Physicians review every use of the AED and EU notifies the local EMS agency of that use. A written report of the review is prepared and sent to the EMS agency with a copy of the report to the company's designee. EU monitors training and stores training and testing records in the EU database.
AED & CPR Training Expected AED users regularly, on the premises of a particular entity, such as a work site, receive appropriate training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of an AED by the American Heart Association or by any other nationally recognized course in CPR and AED use.Emergency University provides CPR and manufacturer specific AED training which is developed in accordance with the guidelines published by the American Heart Association and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation).
AED Program Implementation The emergency medical services system is activate as soon as possible when an individual renders emergency care to an individual in cardiac arrest by using an AED.Emergency University's educational programs include training on prompt activation of the emergency medical services system.
Post Cardiac Event Services Any clinical use of the AED is reported to the licensed physician or advanced practice registered nurse involved in the possessor's program.EU's AED Worksafe Program provides Medical Direction. Regulatory Compliance Any person or entity which possesses an AED shall notify the bureau of emergency medical services in the office of public health of the Department of Health and Hospitals and a local provider of emergency medical services, such as 911 service, local ambulance.Emergency University notifies the local EMS agency and local ambulance service provider of the date acquired, manufacturer, and model of the AED and its location. Notification information is stored in the EU AED Program Manager database.
