AED & CPR Training Comply with written protocols approved by the EMS board for the use of an automated external defibrillator which include: Notification of the Emergency Medical Services system through the use of the 911 universal emergency access number as soon as possible on the use of an automated external defibrillator.EU's AED Worksafe Program provides Medical Direction. Licensed Physicians review every use of the AED and EU notifies the local EMS agency of that use. A written report of the review is prepared and sent to the company's designee. EU staff, in conjunction with company designees, develops a site specific emergency response plan, AED use protocol, and AED policy and procedures. These documents are posted in the EU Program manager database as downloadable pdf files which can be easily accessed and printed at the local site. The Emergency Response plan includes both notification of the internal responders as well as timely notification of 911.
Regulatory Compliance Reporting of the use of an automated external defibrillator to the closest jurisdictional emergency medical services operational program.Emergency University notifies the local EMS agency of the date acquired, manufacturer, and model of the AED and its location. Notification information is stored in the EU AED Program Manager database.
Equipment Maintenance Have established automated external defibrillator maintenance, placement, operation, reporting, and quality improvement procedures as required by the EMS BoardRoutine Maintenance Program is developed by Emergency University which meets manufacturer guidelines. Tracking of routine maintenance dates and automated emails notifying of upcoming maintenance are provided by the EU Program Manager Database. EU staff comes to the site to perform a post cardiac event review and maintenance functions and maintains program compliance.
AED & CPR Training Ensure that each individual who operates an automated external defibrillator for the authorized facility has successfully completed an educational training course and refresher training as required by the EMS Board.Emergency University provides CPR and manufacturer specific AED training which is developed in accordance with the guidelines published by the American Heart Association and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation).
