AED & CPR Training The person tests and maintains the AED, or arranges to have such testing and maintenance performed on the AED pursuant to the AED manufacturer's specifications.Routine Maintenance Program is developed by Emergency University which meets manufacturer guidelines. Tracking of routine maintenance dates and automated emails notifying of upcoming maintenance are provided by the EU Program Manager Database. EU staff comes to the site to perform maintenance functions and maintains compliance.
AED Program Implementation The person involves a physician to authorize in writing the AED placement and compliance with the requirements for AED training, notification of placement and use, and maintenance.EU staff, in conjunction with company designees, develops a site specific emergency response plan, AED use protocol, and AED policy and procedures which include training requirements, placement of the AED, notification of use, cardiac event review and maintenance procedures. These documents are posted in the EU Program manager database as downloadable pdf files which can be easily accessed and printed at the local site. The Emergency Response plan includes both notification of the internal responders as well as timely notification of 911.
AED Program Implementation An emergency medical service system is activated when an AED has been used to render emergency care or treatment.All AED response plans developed by Emergency University includes both notification of the internal responders as well as timely notification of 911. Emergency University CPR and AED training programs also include education on the EMS system and timely notification of the EMS system.
Post Cardiac Event Services The person has reported any emergency use of the AED to the physician.EU's AED Worksafe Program provides Medical Direction. Licensed Emergency Physicians review every use of the AED and EU notifies the local EMS agency of that use. A written report of the review is prepared and sent to the company's designee.
Regulatory Compliance Any person who acquires an AED shall notify an agent of the emergency communications or vehicle dispatch center of the existence, location, and type of AED.Emergency University notifies the local EMS agency/dispatch center of the date acquired, manufacturer, and model of the AED and its location. Notification information is stored in the EU AED Program Manager database.
