AED & CPR Training Expected defibrillator users receive appropriate training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of an AED by the American heart Association, American Red Cross or by another nationally recognized, or Wyoming department of health recognized, course in CPR and AED use and maintains currency through refresher training every two years.Emergency University provides CPR and manufacturer specific AED training which is developed in accordance with the guidelines published by the American Heart Association and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation). Refresher training is required every two years to maintain training certification. Emergency University notifies its trainees via email of impending expiration training certification. Training records are maintained in EU's program manager database.
Equipment Maintenance The AED is maintained and tested according to the manufacturer's guidelines.Routine Maintenance Program is developed by Emergency University which meets manufacturer guidelines. Tracking of routine maintenance dates and automated emails notifying of upcoming maintenance are provided by the EU Program Manager Database. EU staff comes to the site to perform maintenance functions and maintains compliance.
Medical Direction The is involvement of a licensed physician to ensure compliance with requirement for training, emergency medical services notification and maintenance.EU's AED Worksafe Program provides Medical Direction. Licensed Physicians review every use of the AED and EU notifies the local EMS agency of that use. A written report of the review is prepared and sent to the company's designee. EU staff, in conjunction with company designees, develops a site specific emergency response plan, AED use protocol, and AED policy and procedures. These documents are posted in the EU Program manager database as downloadable pdf files which can be easily accessed and printed at the local site. The Emergency Response plan includes both notification of the internal responders as well as timely notification of 911. Training and maintenance records are also tracked in EU's program manager database.
Regulatory Compliance Any person who acquires an AED shall notify an agent of the emergency communications center and the local ambulance service of the existence, location and type of AED.Emergency University notifies all agencies required by state law including but not limited the local EMS agency/dispatch center of the date acquired, manufacturer, model of the AED and its location and the AED response plan which includes EMS notification procedures. Notification information is stored in the EU AED Program Manager database.
