AED & CPR Training In Alaska's Good Samaritan Law (AS 09.65.090) "properly trained" to use an AED means "that the individual has completed an automated external defibrillator training course from the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or another automated external defibrillator training course approved by the Department of Health and Social Services."Emergency University provides CPR and manufacturer specific AED training which is developed in accordance with the guidelines published by the American Heart Association and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation).
Regulatory Compliance Notify the local emergency medical response authority or other appropriate entity of the most recent placement of the device within 30 days following placement of the deviceEmergency University notifies the local EMS agency of the date acquired, manufacturer, and model of the AED and its location. Notification information is stored in the EU AED Program Manager database.
Equipment Maintenance Properly maintain and test the device.Routine Maintenance Program is developed by Emergency University which meets manufacturer guidelines. Tracking of routine maintenance dates and automated emails notifying of upcoming maintenance provided by EU Program Manager Database. EU staff comes in to site to perform maintenance functions and maintains compliance.
AED Program Implementation Provide within a reasonable proximity to the device's usual location, a means of notifying the local emergency medical response authority that an emergency exists in the event that a medical emergency occurs where the device is used.Emergency University's educational programs include training on prompt activation of the emergency medical services system.
