Medical Direction A Mississippi licensed physician must exercise medical control authority over the person using the AED to ensure compliance with requirements for training, emergency medical services notification and maintenance.EU's AED Worksafe Program provides Medical Direction. Licensed Physicians review every use of the AED and EU notifies the local EMS agency of that use. A written report of the review is prepared and sent to the company's designee. EU staff, in conjunction with company designees, develops a site specific emergency response plan, AED use protocol, and AED policy and procedures. These documents are posted in the EU Program manager database as downloadable pdf files which can be easily accessed and printed at the local site. The Emergency Response plan includes both notification of the internal responders as well as timely notification of 911.
AED & CPR Training The person using the AED must have received appropriate training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of an AED by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, national Safety Council or other nationally recognized course in CPR and AED use.Emergency University provides CPR and manufacturer specific AED training which is developed in accordance with the guidelines published by the American Heart Association and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation).
AED Program Implementation Any person who renders emergency care of treatment on a person in sudden cardiac death by using an AED must activate the EMS system as soon as possible, and report any clinical use of the AED to the licensed physician.Emergency University's educational programs include training on prompt activation of the emergency medical services system.
