Emergency University Awarded Contract from CSX for WorkSafe™ Emergency Response Program Designed to Save Lives of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Victims

EU's Worksafe™ Program for CPR/AED Response Training and AED Program Management System Significantly Boosts Response Rates from Two Percent to One Hundred Percent

January 20, 2015 – Redwood City, Calif. – Emergency University, a pioneer in emergency response system design, blended emergency medical training and response technologies, has been awarded a multi-year contract for its Worksafe™ Emergency Response Program from CSX Corp., Jacksonville, Fla., one of the nation's leading transportation suppliers. The contract includes CPR/AED (automated external defibrillator) and response training, management of approximately 300 AEDs, wellness training, blood-borne pathogens training, first aid training and more.

“Safety is the foundation of CSX’s business, which is why we have continued to invest in emergency response training, AEDs and other critical equipment,” said Dr. Craig Heligman, CSX Chief Medical Officer. “The Emergency University WorkSafe™ Program will provide CSX with valuable support in our commitment to safety and employee wellness.”

An EU customer since 2005, CSX has 31,000 employees and operates in 23 states plus the District of Columbia and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. In addition to EU’s WorkSafe™ Program and AED program management system, the contract includes two of EU’s most powerful new applications, AED Ready™ and EUAlert!™, designed to provide ease of use, immediate emergency notification and ensure program compliance.

“When a company makes an AED purchasing decision, it must include more than just the equipment. It must also ensure the effectiveness of the response program and the development of willing responders,” said Emergency University CEO Doron Braun. “Although more than 40 million people are CPR/AED trained annually, SCA victims receive an effective response (bystander CPR and the attachment of an AED) only two percent of the time. Emergency University focused on this deficiency and developed innovative training and technology to bridge this enormous gap, with the ultimate goal of saving lives.”

In addition to this contract with CSX, Emergency University also manages the Federal Aviation Administration’s SCA Response program – the largest AED program in the country. To date, Emergency University has overseen specialized training and orientation for more than 20,000 FAA employees at 198 locations, achieving an unprecedented 100 percent SCA response rate for the past five years.
